I have a circa 2005 RR2150. Recently the playback via USB is becoming very spotty. Volume jumps, channels drop, and the like. No similar problems with other inputs.

Have not tried replacing the cable, yet. It is not much newer. Any ideas short of that, as to what the trouble might be?

Cheers

Could be a loose USB connection at either end or a bad cable or something more insidious. Have you tried using the cable with another digital source fed to the 2150?

Have not tried the cable on another source. I will give that a try, but I am beginning to think that it is not the issue. I swapped the connection to the computer to use a S/PDIF to RCA cable in to the Video inputs, in lieu of the USB. I am getting the same left channel drops and volume changes.

Just checked another source via the AUX and am getting the same channel drops there. It would appear to be the RR2150. I do not think that it can be blamed on the speaker wire, and that is the only other variable in the chain.

Darn.

swap the speaker wires left to right on the back of the 2150. If the problem swaps change out the wires. I would also swap the left and right analog input wires to check for the response. Make sure all the connections are solid.
If after all the swaps the problem remains then the 2150 is probably at fault.
