Is there a new model on the horizon or is it just that this unit is selling like hotcakes? wink
I see they are currently in short supply at the store.

bootman,

Over the past couple of years we have noticed that more and more purchases of a 7x200 watt Outlaw amplifier have been the 7700. Although this model is a bit more expensive than the 7200 it has been a better match for higher end processors that offer balanced outputs.

The discontinuation of the 7200 is our first step in reorienting our amplifier round-up as new technologies and customer needs are emerging. For example, for enthusiasts who are looking to add more channels for object based audio, (such as Atmos, Auro, and soon-DTS we have to consider those requirements and what form they will take.

The 7200 has been a wonderful product and continues to hold its value in the aftermarket. For those who choose to take advantage of the pricing on these last few units, they are really going to snag a terrific value.

In 2015, you will start to see the first results of our new amplifier solutions.

Peter

So say a 4075 model amp (4x75) might be just what those four Atmos speakers need.

Exciting times indeed.

I would expect something along the lines of a digital amp.

A digital amp would be great for us old folks tired of lugging 100lbs amps around.
Leave those to outlaws with stronger backs. wink

For me, I am a powerlifter and I can handle my 7500 ok. I would like to handle the 7900 but my wallet is on compo and as such can't handle the load. Wallet wins. It's ok I love my 7500.

You would most likely dislike the digital offerings with anything other than your Advents and most likely not even then. Good class a/b offerings are a much easier sell than middle of the road class d. Exceptional digital amps are not cost effective compared to the current Outlaw line. I do not see Outlaw going out of their way to compete with the likes of Crown in the cheap digital domain. My personal feeling is it would be a mistake for Outlaw to abandon the format that made them sucessful. Does ATI even have a digital offering?

I gave a class d stereo amp a try with my old maggies and for $5,000 I was not impressed. YMMV of course

I was just guessing. I like all of my amps just fine. My Advents are currently set up with a Yamaha CA800 integrated amp that I have had for almost 40 years. Had it gone through last year by an electronics guy here in NC and it works great. It weighs 45 lbs by itself and is a tank.

I had my ca 1000 gone through last year and have no plans to get rid of it any time soon so know how you feel about your 800. I currently use the Yamaha uncoupled to power my center channel. You did much better than I back then as my stereo was nothing impressive. I spent most of my adult life working at sea and did not get into audio until much later.

I have been looking at the various five channel options and like the looks of the 7500 but want to hear one. In a perfect world I could find an out of warranty used one cheap enough to cover the cost of upgrades. My Adcom with the TO6 output transistors ran just shy of $400.00 per channel but had the leaking cap issue driving up the price.

I have the 7500 also and power my Maggies with it. It is very neutral and has plenty of power. It is a beast of an amp. I am in the camp that amps don't significantly affect sound like speakers do.
