Is there any straightforward way to convert the RR2150's 12v pulsed trigger to a standard 12v method?? I'd much prefer to not use my subs auto-sensing power on circuit. I have many standard 12v arrangements but don't recall running across a device that would convert a pulsed output to standard. Alternatiely is there a reasonable cost pulsed power controller??

Hello wyliec2, The R2150 dos not have a pulsed trigger output. It is a steady 12vdc. If this is not the case with your R2150, then give Outlaw Technical Support a call and we'll be glad to set you up for a repair authorization.

As it turns out the trigger device I was using requires 100ma and the 2150 only supplies 50ma so that was the problem. I was confused by the 2150 manual as it says:

This 3.5mm mono mini-jack provides a turn-on and turn-off pulse that
may be used to control optional external amplifiers from Outlaw and
other brands, as well as other compatible accessories.

While people are adressing this issue for wyliec2, he made me think of the same question he asked above. I have my main Outlaw amp triggred by the amp but I have two add'l Outlaw amps I use for the Zone 2 outputs. I physical push the on/off button on the front of the amps every time I use them and it seems like something that will break eventually. Is there a quick easy mechanism to use the 12vdc trigger externally?

wyliec2,
Most AVR's, or stereo receivers, feature a simple 12v regulator circuit, capable of around 50ma of available current. What you related from the R2150 manual, was the description from the rear panel(RP5) illustration. A more complete summation is found on page 16 of the manual:

"The RR 2150 has one 12 volt Trigger output that output offers a 12 volt DC
signal that can be used to control compatible external components such as
amplifiers, blinds and projection screens.
To control an external device such as an Outlaw power amplifier with the RR
2150, connect the Trigger Output (RP5) on the rear panel to the matching
“Trigger” or “Control” input on the external component.
Once the two units are connected, the external component will turn on when
the RR 2150 is on, and off when the RR 2150 is turned off."

Kubrickfan, there are devices such as current sensing power strips on the market that range in pricing. I have not used one, but, maybe someone on the forum can recommend one.

Kubrickfan, I found this 12 volt trigger made by Niles.

At $150.00 on Amazon (or more, elsewhere) it's a little spendy to buy new but it seems like a pretty nice solution. You could set the current sensing line up on a lamp or something if you don't want them coming on every time you power up the Marantz.

Thank you both Jim and Owl's_Warder for your responses. I don't think I made myself clear as I don't need a sensing device at all because I use these two (2) other amps for Zone 2 only. I'm looking for something hopefully much, much less than $150 that would be a basic button I push that would send the 12vdc trigger to these amps to power up only when needed. I'm NOT electronic savvy at ALL. Most likely something I could build myself...if I knew how.

What about this?

It says "high current" outputs but doesn't say how much current. It might be worth a try.

Building something might be the best option...

That looks like it'd do exactly what he wants, EEman. It even includes the power supply and mating cables so there's nothing extra to purchase. I'd also say $40.00 qualifies as much less than $150.00. Nice find! cool
