What does this sub do if it receives input lower than 16 Hz? Does the unit have a filter that cuts off the frequency or does it do its best to reproduce it? Does the internal amp go into a protection mode if it is overloaded? Thanks.

I don't think it has a high-pass filter, and if it does it would be set below 16Hz. The 16Hz figure in the specs is a "-3dB point" below which output decreases significantly. It sill plays, but it is at a much lower level.

Due to height constraint I cannot place the Outlaw LFM-1 EX upright (woofer facing the floor) and I was wondering if placing it on it's side (so that the woofer are firing sideways) would have any negative impact on sound quality. Another potential spot to put the sub is just behind the main seat close to rear corner wall. I could place it upright here but based on past experience with other subs, this is the second best spot for a sub in my room, the first being the corner front wall. Thoughts ?

BTW, how does the Outlaw LFM-1 EX compare to the new Rythmtik F12/FV12 and the HSU VT3-MK4 for HT use ?

FYI, my room is 17 x 19 with a small open foyer that leads to stairs. I was able to reach 20 Hz with the JL F112 so my room does give me some room gain. I also have a nasty dip @ 50&60 Hz with an Energy S10.3 sub but not with the JL F112. Are dips and peaks sub specific within a given room ?

The LFM-1EX has some stuffing inside of it which can move around when the sub is placed on its side. I move my sub around the room on its sdie and have lost a little of the stuffing out of the ports. I don't recommend laying it on its side. It would be a nice feature for all speakers to have built in hand holds to allow moving them securely.

I've had this sub for 2 years in room that's 17 x 17 with 14' high ceilings and multple openings. I had it placed in an opposite corner from the seating area. Y'all can look at graphs, specs, frequency sweeps, whatever. I can tell you this sub rocks and for the money it would be hard to beat. It just works and built like a tank.
