Connect RR2150 to 975 - 05/30/15 11:25 AM

I plan on buying a RR2150, can I connect a 975 to it?

I would like to connect the following to the 975:

Blu Ray player
Roku
Apple TV
Panasonic 55" Plazma TV

You can probably connect it to the 2150 but...the 2150 is only stereo out with a sub connection so all of your movies and music would be in stereo vice surround formats. For few hundred more you could get the 975/5000 combo and be all set for everything.

And the 975 has an AM/FM tuner built in so the only thing the 2150 is getting you is 2-channel amplification and phono input. Both important but both can be had separately too. (oh, and USB input)

Not that I'm bad mouthing the 2150. I have both a 975 and a 2150 but as two separate setups doing different things, both very well I might add.

Well I bought one today..so I guess I will be hanging around. I use to have a 1060 receiver. It sounded great..

Well it sounds like you pulled the trigger, enjoy it! For the record (and not to shill for other products on this site) but there are stereo preamps designed to integrate with surround systems, like Parasound 2100, enabling dedicated stereo playback without any wiring rearrangement.
