I was seriously considering the 975, both for video and music, to replace the Denon receiver which is getting a little old and cranky.

But my concern is this statement about the 975, from Audioholics: "the Outlaw processor digitizes all of its analog audio inputs". Please tell me that's not the case! I have a very nice dac, which I'd be using for my music, and don't need another dac to further process the signals...

Other than this, it would be a treat from the sound of all the reviews both pro and here at outlaw. I had my 990 and before that a 950, neither of which gave a lick of trouble.

Thanks for any info.

It does ever so slightly digitize analog, and many reviews have pointed out that the sound difference, the way we have done it is barely noticeable. This unit does not have a pure analog pass thru.

Ok, well that's not the end of the world then. I assume there's no "future firmware fix" for that...?

What's the warranty if I buy one of your b-stock? I see it's a little less expensive.

Sorry but to paraphrase Yoda, "It either does or does not, there is no slightly".

Got to agree with 73Bruin -- if the intent is to say that the A/D conversion process that the 975 applies to all analog inputs is as non-intrusive as possible that is one thing but it just gibberish to say that "slightly digitized". That sort of gibberish makes one sound very untrustworthy -- sorta like if you went to buy a used car and asked if the car was equipped with anti-lock brakes and the answer came back "it has semi-anti-lock brakes"...

Sorry.. typo !!!.. it it digitized, but with only a slight sound difference! And no software fix for that - the architecture is not available for that feature.

Whoa! I had not heard that it digitzes everything. Interesting.

Wonder how many other pre/processor/receivers do the same thing, i.e. "digitize" analog prior to output? I hadn't put a lot of thought into it until I got a DAC.

The unit is tempting in spite of this, I like the simplicity and that it supports legacy, still have an occasional user (kids) who does something either component or composite video.

Interesting thoughts...

Anyone ever compare the 975 analog input with the RR2150 analog inputs for 2-channel material to see if there was a noticable SQ difference?

I might have to try this in my free time.
