I'm new here and I was just wondering if anybody could give me input on this set up. I want a new reciever but I don't think the industry has decided what it wants yet as far as Lossless Audio processing. So I was wondering if adding an amp will juice my system for now because i'm not happy with the pioneer until a reciver with all the bells and wistles comes out

I had comtemplated the same thing before buying the 970. For me a it was a huge difference in qaulity as opposed to using a reciever. The reciever was fine for low to moderate volumes, however, even when I started using the 7075 it much cleaner. I eventually went to a separate amp for my mains and again a noticeable improvement especially for peaks. It was not how loud it would play but rather the quality of playback for movies and music. It does n't hurt that it plays very loud (if I want it to) in a room that is 36' long with very few partitions. I think you plan is a good one. Get the amp now and wait for the next generation of processor. Besides they have a really good sale on right now. So good, I bought one myself. As with many others, my system is always progressing assuming I can sell the old stuff.

I expect you will hear an improvement if you add the 7500. I had a Elite 43tx and added the ATI 2005 (virtually identical to the 7500) that I now use. There was a definite improvement. Adding the amp is a nice way to incrementally upgrade your system and an amp can be used with new pre/pros as technology changes. That sounds like where you are headed. I will say when I added the 990 the sound REALLY improved over the 43tx.

Thanks for the info. It just seems like HT processing is up in limbo right now. HDMI 1.3 lossless sound. What the hell. I understand outlaws stance on their recievers with the HDMI. And all of the updating isn't even finished. By next year they can have HDMI 4. So yeah, the way of the amp I will go.

Yes, we are all in a holding pattern until the standards settle down. Keep us all in the loop on what you decide regarding a new amp and what your impressions are regarding its impact on your current system.

Yeah my room is so small. I actually have two THX Snell subs but can only use one. Same goes with the surrounds (7.1 that is). So I figure 7500 and with upgrade purchase the 2200's.
