Fellow Outlaws,

Hi.

My 2150 is due to arrive next week. I am now thinking about new speakers. My budget is $1,000 or less. I haven't auditioned any speakers yet, but my reading has led me to think I'd like to hear the following:

Epos ELS-3
Epos M-5
Infinity Primus 360
B&W DM603 S3
Monitor Audio Silver RS6

Are any of you Outlaws using the 2150 with one of these speakers? If so, could you provide your impressions?

And even if you're not using one of these speakers, I'd love to hear your thinking on how they may (or may not) match up with the 2150.

Happy listening.

Personally for music, I like my Onix Ref 1's from AV123.com. You would be limited to the rosewood at that price, but its still a great looking speaker. Another speaker you may want to put on your list is the Ascend CMT-340. That is actually a lot less than your budget, but they have a pretty strong following.

for the onix ref 1s, did you also get stands for these, or did you already have a shelf/bookcase to put them in? how big a room do you use them in? thanks, boochydog

These and these are available for 30 day in home trial.

Both get high marks from buyers.

Hey boochydog, I have a pair of Monitor Audio Silver RS6s. They are great speakers. Solid bass and a midrange section that is something very special. In my room, thses speakers throw a beautiful sound stage. They image like no other speaker I have owned. Very happy with them.

My 2150 comes in on Wednesday so I should be able to get even more performance from them. Can't wait!

I've heard a lot of great stuff about these speakers:
ATHENA F2.2

Though they better fall into the "great speakers for around $500" range, perhaps you should still check them out.

Thats right about what I needed to spend, so I ordered some last week. They should be arriving soon, I'll post impressions.

Outlaws,

Thanks for your responses. I am continuing to follow this thread with interest, and I appreciate the recommendations you're making.

boochydog and Dntblnk22: I am looking forward to reading your impressions concerning the pairing of the RR2150 with the Monitor Audio Silver SR6s.

Boochydog,
Yeah, I use stands. I can't remember what kind they are but they cost about $200 for the pair. The room I have them in is 20x15. I also use a sub with them as well. If you don't plan on using a sub, they probably would do better in a smaller room, but thats just a guess. Just FYI, AV123 does have a pair of discontinued Ref 1.5's on their B-Stock page for $1250. They are basically floor standing versions of Ref 1's. Enjoy the search and ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!!!

Edit: Since you are in Lawrence and it is a local company, you may want to check out the Martin Logan Mosaics, but they will probably be over your budget by around 50%.
