I just bought a RR2150 in February and I love it. I replaced my Sherwood of 30 years loyal service. The only thing I did not like of the RR2150 was that the shell had no character. The metal shell was just not doing it any justice (I have it on top of my entertainment cabinet, in plain view). This is suppose to be a "Retro Receiver"....where's the wood! So I had a wood shell/casing made for it. Click the link to see pics (hope the link works! If it doesn't, go to www.maximumthrust.net/outlaw )

That looks slick! Mine is also in plain sight in a room with a lot of oak. Your's would fit in much better than mine and have a higher WAF. Would you share how much it cost? Is cooling an issue?

Would love to know from Outlaw if this would impact the warranty.

That case is very nice! I like the way the grain wraps around. I noticed some of the openings in the metal cabinet are covered. Does the RR2150 get hot with less ventilation?

My cost was a deal. The craftsman is a good friend of mine. Cost of wood - $30 plus a little for labor. Not sure what his interest would be in making others. I'll keep you posted. Cooling is not an issue. My experience is that the unit really does not get too warm. The shell does not touch the top, so air can vent throughout the whole top. Plus, the bottom is vented (before anyone comments...I know heat rises).

That case is pure awesome. If I had a 2150 I would make a case for it just for the retro look. Whoever did the work could make some $$ if they wanted to make more.

WOW.

Let me add myself to the list of folks who'd be very interested to know if your friend ever decides to make more of these ...
It's gorgeous.

It's quite handsome - a nice match with the 2150's unique faceplate design.

My first thought was that having a few more slots might now hurt, but I am not surprised that it's getting good ventilation through those slots. As for the heat rising thing, radiators also need to draw cool air in from below in order to have some air to reject heat to, so you are correct that those bottom vents really are important.

x2! Nicely done…the match truly surprised me. If there are no cooling issues, it's a winning combination.

I too would be interested in a wood shell for my RR2150, depending on the cost. Keep us posted as to whether or not your friend would be interested in making more of these.

Thanks.

Jeff
