Dear Fellow Outlaw:

The heat you are feeling as summer gets into full swing this week is more than just the weather. There is a great deal of activity at the Outlaw’s Hideout. We’ll bring you full details in mid-month, but there are two important items for you that just can’t wait.

First, we are pleased to announce that after many months of incredible work by our software engineers, a new version of the firmware for the Model 970 Surround Processor and the Model 1070 receiver is now available to you. Indeed, we’ve been installing it in all Model 970 and Model 1070 units that have shipped since June 19, 2007.

This firmware update has proven to solve 99% of the problems with what has become known as the “no-audio issue”, where the system occasionally drops audio on source or digital stream changes. Our testers have used a wide variety of sources, and they report that the problem is all but gone. Yes, it is remotely possible that some systems may see an audio blip on rare occasions, but we’re confident that this update eliminates the problem in most cases. Remember, this is already a rare problem, as most users have never encountered this issue. The update is available here . Note that if you are among the vast majority of Model 970 and Model 1070 users who have not encountered the “no audio” issue, this upgrade is optional, but doing so will improve system stability. The upgrade process is simple, thanks to the RS-232 port on both products.

Our second item today also relates to the Model 1070. As we’ve already posted in the Outlaw Saloon, our inventory of what Home Theater Magazine called “The Best Receiver Under $1,000” is down to less than one month’s supply, and there will be no further production of this model. Thus, once our current stock is gone, the Model 1070 becomes a part of Outlaw history. If you have been considering a Model 1070 receiver rather than separates for your next system upgrade, we suggest that you place your order now. Going on vacation in early July? Don’t wait until you come back to order a Model 1070, for as the saying goes, “When they’re gone, they’re GONE!”

Anticipating the inevitable question, we are working on a number of new products, but there is no replacement scheduled for the Model 1070 until some time well into next year.

Have a safe and happy July 4th holiday, whether you’re on the road or home taking it easy. Our offices will close early on July 3rd and we will be closed on July 4th so that the Outlaws may spend time with their families, but the action in the Saloon never stops! We’ll be back to you later this month with a complete update on all things Outlaw. Until then, remember, "The best values in home theater are only a mouse click away!"sm

Regards,

The Outlaws
