Ok, here is a wierd question. How badly would the RR2150 be taxed if I were to run Polk LSi9s and LSi7s on the A and B binding posts at the same time. Both being 4ohm nominal speakers, I would think this would be quite difficult on the amp.

Here is why I ask. My family room has all of the AV equipment on the wall that is shared with the master bedroom. Coincidentally the master bedroom AV gear is on the same wall. With me so far? smile Ok, I was thinking I could potentially run my LSi9s in my family room on the A posts and run LSi7s (or some other speaker) on the B posts in the master beedroom. I would then run a IR repeater to the IR jack on the back of the RR2150 so I could use a remote to control the RR2150 from the master bedroom.

Then the trick is to figure out how to get 2 Squeeze boxes to work into that mix, one in the family room and one in the bedroom...

Am I missing something? Am I nuts to think this would be possible?

Interested as to thoughts...

(It should be fairly apparent that I have entirely too much time on my hands while waiting for my RR2150 to arrive. )

Thanks

Hello,

I would definitely not recommend running two sets of 4 ohm speakers simultaneously. You need an impedance matching devise for the second set of speakers, such as one of these: Niles Audio Selectors or perhaps an impedance matching volume control for the room the speakers are in: Niles Audio Volume Controls . I'll leave the Squeezebox issue to someone else. Hope this helps!

I agree with Audioholic about pushing two sets of 4 ohm speakers simultaneously that way. At the very least, I'd want to kick it around with Outlaw before I tried it.

So you've got a Squeezebox in the family room alongside the 2150 and another in the family room? And I take it you want to pipe both of them through the 2150 to drive either of the two sets of speakers? You could route the wires from the bedroom Squeezebox through the wall to the 2150 (assuming you've got an input to spare), but with the 2150 as the focal point for both sources you'll be unable to listen to both units at the same time. You could always order a second 2150 for the bedroom. wink

Thanks for the reply! I had figured that it would be a bad idea. I'll have to investigate those options you listed.

Thanks again.

Hi Gonk,

Order another 2150? 2 things there. First, my wife would move out wink , and second I seriously doubt I could stand the wait. It has been so painful waiting for this thing. frown A status update would be nice I guess.

I suppose it would be possible to use one set of inputs on the 2150 and just use Y- adapters to the squeezeboxes. Then just make sure you only use one of them at a time. I think that would work out.

Anyway, heres hoping that the Outlaws scrape up a few extra 2150s... smile

By the way, thanks for the reply!

Hey, couldn't hurt to toss the idea into the mix!

If you do tie both squeezeboxes to a single input, I'd probably suggest using a switchbox (Radio Shack has them for probably $20 or less) so that you don't have to worry about the two units fighting (picture both playing at once - could get weird).

I hear ya man! If it weren't for my better half, I would probably have a 2150 in each room, along with some very serious debt... wink

I'm running two sets of 4 ohm speakers at the same time (my dining room set are Linn Keleidhs and kitchen are old Infinity bookshelf speakers) without any difficulty. But I tend to listen at low volumes (this is more of a "background system").

In any event, as long as you're not pushing the RR2150, I expect it will be stable into a nominal 2 ohm load. At least it has been for me so far!
